Idao de Tillard had a little break off racing after the Elitlopp, but is now back with a big bang. In late June he won Prix Rene Balliere over 2700 metres, then a couple of weeks later he won Prix de Washington in a crazy fast 1.08,0ak (1:49.2) where he shattered the Enghien track record, and the fastest race ever trotted on French soil.
In early August Criterium de Vitesse de Basse-Normandie in Argentan 1:51.1 and the fourth consecutive victory came at La Capelle today. The double Prix d’Amerique winner has now won 38 out of his 56 races, and made over 3,3 million euros in his career so far. Despite emergency colic surgery in late 2025 he was back in March and is performing at top top level.
He is a double Prix d’Amerique winner (2024 and 2025), Prix de France, Crtierum des 5 Ans, Prix de Selection, Prix Tenor Baune, Prix de la’Atlantique, and has won 10 Group I races in total so far.
Idao was also shown confidence as a sire by buyers at the recent Deauville sales, with an average at over €120.000 for nine yearlings. His oldest crop in France consists ofr 81 two-year-olds, 53% of them have qualified (7/9/26).
Despite being considered French, Idao de Tillard has a 4×5 on Speedy Crown (via Royal Prestige and Workaholic), and 4 x 5 Florestan (by Star’s Pride) in his pedigree.
